A truck driver who drove into level crossing booms at the weekend is believed to be the cause of major delays on the rail network in Cape Town on Monday.

Metrorail warned of "major delays" in an advisory to commuters‚ stating: "Residual damage by a delivery truck affects signal equipment".

A train shuttle is operating from Retreat to Fish Hoek‚ while a bus and train shuttle is running between Fish Hoek and Simon's Town.

Anticipated delays of between 50 to 60 plus minutes are expected‚ Metrorail said.

There are also some trains cancelled "due to sets out of service". These are on the Retreat to Cape Town line and between Fish Hoek and Cape Town.
