A Durban woman is living in fear after she was threatened by her axe-wielding landlord.

Speaking to TMG Digital on Thursday‚ a day after the violent parking spot dispute‚ Tasmyn Lee said she was afraid to return to her rented property. She recalled how the landlord came down the driveway‚ axe in hand‚ and she locked her gate fearing the worst.

  • Axe-wielding landlord an ‘insane psychopath’‚ says threatened woman’s fatherA Durban landlord who threatened a female tenant with an axe has been described as “an insane psychopath” by the woman’s father.

The landlord‚ Pooran Makhan‚ had intervened in a dispute between Lee and another tenant over the use of an undercover parking. Lee said that‚ while she had made peace with the other tenant‚ she still feared for her life after Makhan allegedly threatened her.

Attemps to get comment from Makhan were unsuccessful. He did not answer his phone nor return text messages on Thursday‚ but a woman who answered a call to his registered landline said he had fallen ill. The woman‚ who would not be identified and cut the line several times‚ said the landlord was ill with kidney problems and had gone to see a physician.

“He has gone to the doctor. See here…he is sick. Don’t harass me. You must speak to my attorney and you can also f*ck off‚” she said‚ before abruptly ending the call.

Police confirmed that Lee had laid charges of malicious damage to property and crimen injuria.

Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the cases had been registered at the Umhlali police station.

“No arrests have been made‚” she said.

Video footage of the incident went viral after being posted to Facebook by Lee’s mother.

Lee‚ 27‚ told TMG Digital that she and her young daughter were living in fear.

“It was absolutely terrifying and my daughter is completely traumatised. I was only there for three months and I don’t feel comfortable staying there anymore‚ so we are looking to move. I am a single mother and money will be a consideration. We are hoping to have a resolution through the police.
