About a dozen children were injured when the taxi transporting them to school collided with a car and rolled down an embankment on Wednesday morning.

Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said 20 people were injured when the taxi and light motor vehicle crashed on the M1 near the Old Richmond Road in KwaZulu-Natal.

"The 20 patients - of which 12 were school children between the ages of 10 and 15 - were transported to hospital for further treatment."
