Police search and rescue technicians were painstakingly moving tons of wood‚ searching for bodies that may be trapped underneath a truck that lost its load in Bayhead‚ Durban‚ on Monday.

Paramedics managed to save a cyclist who was pinned beneath the fallen cargo‚ which spilled onto the roadway.

Rescuers and paramedics were told by the injured man that several people may have been crushed beneath the payload. One section of the load of timber had been cleared during the search.

The truck was winched back onto its wheels as the search continued.
