Behold the new Volvo XC60. Another star of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, it's basically a slightly more compact version of the firm's flagship XC90 that was launched last year. Which is a jolly good thing because the XC90 is one attractive slab of SUV metal.
The interior is a dead ringer to that of the S90 saloon and features – for better or for worse – the same Volvo Sensus infotainment system. Personally I'm not sold on its finicky tablet ways but everything else around it oozes understated Scandinavian class.
Outside you'll find lots of clean, uncluttered surfaces as well as neat design touches such as the 'Thor's Hammer' headlights. On the technology side of things you can expect semi-autonomous driving courtesy Pilot Assist plus a CleanZone four-zone climate system that removes harmful pollutants and particles from outside the cabin.
The range-topper of the XC60 range will be the T8: a twin engine petrol plug-in hybrid that packs a 304kW – enough to let it scamper to 100km/h in just 5.3-seconds. – Thomas Falkiner
