Cyclists take a lot of flak from those (like me) who don't understand the pursuit. Often for their skin-hugging attire, and serious grumpiness, as shows. But looking at this F-Type Coupe by Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, you cannot help but wonder: can the two-wheel fraternity and its trappings be that bad?

It was developed by Jaguar as a support vehicle for Team Sky to use in Stage 20 of the Tour de France cycle challenge this Saturday, 26 July. The person tasked with driving would have to exercise restraint or risk losing those bikes atop the car's rear. Because this is based on the full-fat, supercharged V8 model packing 405kW and 680Nm of torque.

Both the exterior and interior are licked in Team Sky's blue livery. Pop the boot and you'll find a separate electric supply, providing power to the radios, amplifiers, horns and televisions for communication between the team's director and riders. Smart move there, Jaguar: illustrating the Coupe's commodious cargo quarters. Sadly, there are no plans to turn this one-off into a series production version.

"This F-Type concept is a world class vehicle that will help get the best out of the team on the TT stages," said Sir Dave Brailsford, Team Principal at Team Sky. Surely, there will be some tussles within the group as to who gets to take the keys after the race.
