If you thought the Range Rover Sport was a tad too tame, the answer has arrived. Parent company Land Rover has revealed the monstrous Sport SVR - without the camouflage livery it donned during its recent Nürburgring blitz. The beastly Range will dash from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds.
Taking the existing 5.0-liter supercharged V8 and massaging it all the way up to 404kW and 650Nm of torque, the SVR is limited to a top speed of 269km/h. Range Rover claims that the fuel economy is the same as the regular Supercharged Sport, as is the off-road ability, with permanent all-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case with optional low-range.
It also has an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, with up to 50-percent faster changes between its eight ratios. Land Rover's engineers have taught it 25 different change programs, adjusted automatically depending on acceleration and braking, lateral cornering forces and gradient severity.
The Sport SVR comes with standard 21-inch wheels and 22-inch alloys an option. Estoril Blue will be an exclusive color option to the car, and Land Rover will paint the roof in contrasting black if you want. The interior has 16-way electric adjustable sports seats with added lateral support, Windsor leather with quilted and ribbed centers, and contrast piping. Aluminum trim on the dashboard is standard, but can be switched for carbon fibre.
Land Rover expects the Range Rover SVR to go on sale in October, with a starting price of $111,400 (R1.6 million). It lands on South African shores in 2015, local pricing is still to be confirmed.
