Three trucks carrying imbali on their way to cut reeds for Swaziland's traditional reed dance were involved in an accident that took multiple lives according to reports.
This figure could not be confirmed however as it is subject to doctors certification and investigations are still to be conducted, according to the Swazi Observer.
Police and firefighters did however tell the Observer that the accident happened and there were fatalities.
The accident occurred on the Mbabane-Manzini highway.
According to the Observer, witnesses say that the accident was caused by a driver who police had signalled to stop.
The driver shouldn't have stopped. One of the trucks banged into the back of the car, and was then hit in the back by the other two.
This resulted in several imbali being thrown onto the tarmac.
Witnesses described the scene as horrifying, as the tarmac was awash with blood and injured maidens.
The injured imbali were rushed to various hospitals following the accident.
