Aren't we at a point in history when we can say that the zombie apocalypse has been played out?

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

System: PS3

Price: R348

The horse is dead, and flogging its corpse might only result in it becoming animated and braying for grains.

That said, even as it comes at the tail end of the zombie fad, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is one of the more fun games of the genre.

Following the adventures of burnt-out journalist/photographer Frank West, instead of the original Chuck, it starts with the seedy underworld of zombie cage fighting.

The zombies escape from the wrestling arena, eating many customers in their path.

Your photography makes a welcome comeback as you seek to discover more and more of the plot and guide civilians to safety by means of a series of missions.

Though the people you are guiding aren't entirely incompetent, these missions are still the worst sort of fetch quests.

Fortunately, the action is still fast and fun, with the sandbox mode adding a little breadth to the franchise.

THE GOOD

Fun gameplay and exploration helps the game.

Though shallow, the sandbox mode adds a bit of value, and the photography is fun.

THE BAD

Zombies, like vampires, are dead. Can't we have werewolves?

RATING: 7/10
