Star Wars' latest foray into the world of online adventures will be free for a three day period starting Thursday.

Outside the prison’s sealed doors, This Republic team battles against Annihilation Droid XRR-3, the first of the Eternity Vault’s many security protocols.

The PC game's open doors event starts at one minute past midnight, US Central Time (18:01 Central Europe, 1:01am Friday 16 in Singapore) and runs until Monday the 19th, 2am (8:00am Central Europe, 3pm Singapore).

It's not entirely open access -- player characters can progress up to level 15 and are restricted to exploring a few of the game's zones, for example, but there's plenty of time to evaluate whether the PC game is worth $60 up front and then $15 per month thereafter.

Another popular MMO, Rift, used free weekends to boost interest early in its lifespan. Now, like World of Warcraft, it instead offers Rift Lite as a year-round taster, but caps player progress in order to encourage subscription.
