According to Google SA, Caitlyn Jenner and Father's Day were the biggest search terms in June.

Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympic decathlon champion formerly known as Bruce, who is transitioning to life as a woman, and unveiled her new name and look in a sexy pose on the cover of Vanity Fair.

"I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self," Jenner wrote in her first tweet, after the magazine released the picture by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz.

"Africa has consistently been in the top five countries searching for news about Caitlyn Jenner. Some of the Caitlyn Jenner related terms heavily searched by South Africans were “call me caitlyn,” and of course others referring to her former name such as, “bruce jenner vanity fair,” and “bruce jenner woman.”"

"Oddly enough the other big Kardashian related news, the announcement of Kim Kardashian’s second pregnancy, barely featured with only one search cluster," Google SA said in a statement.

Meanwhile of the 96 search clusters Google looked at, 17 related to Father's Day.

Some of the Father’s Day related terms most searched were “father’s day wishes,” “father’s day quotes,” “happy father’s day pictures” and “when is father´s day?”

Hopefully that last one was before the day in question.

When it comes to sports, the big news was the UEFA Champions League final, the saga of Kaizer Chiefs losing some of its star players, the tennis French Open, golf’s US Open, and the new Springbok jersey.

South Africans appear bored of Fifa - only one search cluster related to that ongoing scandal.

When it comes to serious news - the Charleston shooting, the American tourist who got mauled in the Lion Park and the announcement of Oscar Pistorius being paroled got top billing.
