The much-awaited government reaction to the final findings of the Nhlapho Commission into kingships in the Eastern Cape could stir trouble in Pondoland.

Although President Jacob Zuma is yet to pronounce on the Traditional Leadership Claims and Disputes findings, the Dispatch has learnt from reliable sources that an unknown, Zanozuko Sigcau, has been identified as the rightful heir to the throne of all AmaMpondo.

This means he will be senior to both the ailing Eastern Pondoland King Mpondombini Sigcau and Western Pondoland King Ndamase Ndamase.

Speaking during the 50th commemoration of the Pondo Revolt massacre in Flagstaff this week, Zuma hinted at this.

“When I read the contents of the report handed to me by the commission, I warned (Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Sicelo) Shiceka that he should rather escape from his home,” said Zuma.
