COPE claims it has no cash

There's no end in sight to the troubles that have wrecked the ambitions of the Congress of the People, with leaked correspondence showing that the party has gone bankrupt.

The Dispatch has revealed that the party, which attracted more than 1.2 million votes in the last election and became the official opposition in five provinces, cannot even afford to hold meetings.

The latest bombshell to rock COPE came in the form of an e-mail circulated by general secretary Charlotte Lobe to members explaining there was no money for COPE president Terror Lekota to hold a congress national committee meeting tomorrow.
