Joyce Mtunga, the aunt of one of the four boys killed during an alleged drag race between hip-hop artist Molemo Maarohanye, better known as Jub Jub, and his friend, Themba Tshabalala, looked at the accused and wept in court yesterday.

In court six at the Protea Magistrate's Court, Mtunga, the aunt of Thamsanqa Prince Mohabe, could not contain her emotions.

Covering her face with a yellow handkerchief and weeping hysterically, Mtunga told The Times that seeing the two accused brought her nothing but pain.

Mohabe, Mlungisi Cwayi, Phumelelo Masamola, and Andile Mtombeni, all aged between 16 and 17, were killed and Frank Mlambo and Fumani Mushwana, were injured during the alleged race between two Mini Coopers along Boulevard Road, Soweto, on March 8.

Police claimed Maarohanye had tested positive for cocaine and morphine use at the time of the crash.

Maarohanye, who is the son of former Ithuteng Trust head "Mama Jacky" Maarohanye, and Tshabalala, sat with their relatives next to the heavily armed police officers who escorted them to court.

Magistrate Brian Namavhidi postponed the case for trial to December 13, 14, 15 and 17.
