A 34-year-old British tourist has been arrested in Table View, Cape Town, for possessing tik with an estimated R2.5 million street value, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

Lt-Col Andre Traut said the man was arrested at his storage facility in Potsdam road on Wednesday with nine kilograms of the drug.

"His activities have been under the spotlight of the police for some time," he said.

The man was here on a three-month tourist visa.

He would appear in Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Friday, Traut said.
