Madonsela told the National Assembly's justice portfolio committee yesterday that she had, at least for now, decided not to investigate allegations of improper conduct and maladministration against Mdluli.

Madonsela said she had recently met intelligence inspector-general Faith Radebe to discuss the Mdluli fiasco and they had agreed she would delay her investigation to allow Radebe to wrap up her work.

Sceptics have questioned Madonsela's decision because Radebe's office operates in secrecy and shares its reports only with the j oint standing c ommittee on i ntelligence, which meets behind closed doors and whose reports are classified.

But Madonsela said Radebe had undertaken to share her findings.

Mdluli is accused of mismanaging about R5-million.
