Banyana Banyana must triumph over struggling Democratic Republic of Congo in Bata, Equatorial Guinea, tomorrow to book a place in the African Women's Championship semifinals.

South Africa got their campaign back on track with a 1-0 win over Senegal in Malabo on Wednesday. Striker Andile Mgcoyi netted the game's only goal. But Joseph Mkhonza's charges will be disappointed after squandering many scoring opportunities.

The Congolese are still trying to recover from their 6-0 trouncing courtesy of Equatorial Guinea. Guinea top group A with six points while South Africa and DRC are tied at three points each.

Senegal are languishing at the bottom without a point.

"It will be suicidal of us to underestimate DRC based on [their] drubbing," Mkhonza warned yesterday.

"They have great players. We need to prepare thoroughly for the match. The main concern for me is our finishing. But that is something the technical staff are working on. We should have scored five goals against Senegal. I'm hoping we will be sharper [tomorrow]," he said.

Striker Portia Modise is also hopeful the Congolese will fall again.

"We have made it clear we want to be No1 in Africa. The only way to achieve that is to win this tournament. We won't allow DRC to stand in our way. We will definitely be in the semifinals," she said.

On Wednesday, Modise was in her 100th game and became the most capped Banyana player.

Guinea, who have qualified for the semis, will play Senegal.
