IN FLUX

Launched last year, the Flux Chair, brainchild of Dutch duo Douwe Jacobs and Tom Schouten, is a design favourite the world over. It's made from 100% recyclable polypropylene and packs into a flat envelope for storage. The chair comes in a hot range of summer colours.

Available at The Art of Happiness, Johannesburg. It costs R1 500. E mail vanessa@artof happiness.co.za.

THE SWING OF THINGS

Milan-based designer Paola Lenti has created an outdoor swing with a stainless steel structure and vibrant finish. The cushion is made from polyurethane and the hand-woven upholstery is available in either a solid colour or two colours.

The Adagio Swing retails at R38 204 from The Modern Home Company in Cape Town, 021-434-0611, and 03cubed in Joburg, 011-262-0258.

GREAT ADDITION

Jess Binns's upcycled furniture is creating a stir in her adopted home town of Durban, particularly her ''Plus & Minus" tables which are available to order with a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks. The tables are retailing at R1950 each or R3500 for a pair. They're perfect for bedsides or as small coffee tables.

Visit hectorandbailey.com to see some of her other projects.

THE ONLY WAY IS UP

Cape Town's Klooftique has launched a spring range featuring the Franklin Stepladder chair. The dual purpose design was apparently originally thought up by Benjamin Franklin. Folded down and latched, it functions as a chair, but unlatched and flipped up, the seat and back legs double over to form a stepladder.

It costs R2400 and is available at Klooftique, 021-424-9458.
