Two teenage boys have been arrested in Kagiso, near Krugersdorp, following the rape of a 14-year-old girl, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

The two, both 17, were arrested on Wednesday, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old in a park between extensions four and 11 in Kagiso, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

The boys met the girl and her boyfriend on a street around 2am on Tuesday. They beat the boyfriend up and chased him away.

"The complainant was then dragged into the park, where she was assaulted and raped by both suspects."

She knew one of her assailants and reported the attack to the police.

The teenagers were transferred to Bosasa youth rehabilitation centre in Krugersdorp. Sibiya said the justice department would decide what to do with them.
