A Durban advocate who has also sat as an acting judge at a KwaZulu-Natal High court is accused of sexually molesting and raping a female relative.

The Witness reported that senior counsel Mayakisten "Mike" Govindasamy allegedly fondled the woman, now in her twenties, while she shared a bed with him and his wife Muniamma in 2007.

An indictment in the Durban High Court states the teenager was visiting Govindasamy's family and slept over at his Effingham Heights residence.

On July 17, 2010 he allegedly raped her while she slept on a mattress in his bedroom.

Govindasamy has pleaded not guilty to two charges of indecent assault.
