French car-maker Renault has started recalling more than 60000 cars exported to China because of problems with their fuel-gauge sensors, state news agency Xinhua quoted the Chinese consumer watchdog as saying.

Xinhua quoted the watchdog as saying that Renault's China unit this week started the recall of 61508 Koleos sport utility vehicles built between December 16 2008 and July 10 last year.

Like other European car-makers, Renault wants to gain a foothold in China.
