Joburg infant kidnapped from beauty salon

A one-year-old baby boy has been kidnapped from his mother at a beauty salon in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said the mother and her son met a woman called "Busisiwe", from Cape Town, on Tuesday and went to a salon in the Johannesburg CBD.

"While the mother of the victim was busy at the salon, the baby started crying, and Busisiwe took the baby to calm her down.

"She started moving up and down with the baby and later disappeared. She never came back and the victim's mother opened a case of kidnapping."

Dlamini said "Busisiwe" had not made contact with the baby's mother by Thursday afternoon. Police were investigating.
