Fourteen new station commanders appointed in Gauteng: report

Fourteen new Gauteng police station commanders have been appointed, it was reported on Friday.

Gauteng police commissioner Lt-Gen Mzwandile Petros announced the names of the new commanders on Thursday at the police’s provincial headquarters in Parktown, The Star reported.

Eight of the commanders were promoted to the rank of colonel and the other six to that of brigadier.

The new commanders would be deployed at the Moroka, Germiston, Roodepoort, Kempton Park, Brakpan, Sebokeng, Soshanguve, Pretoria West, Brackendowns, Ennerdale, Primrose, Sandringham, Wierdabrug and Norwood police stations.

Petros congratulated the new commanders, and urged them to make a difference as they were being deployed to problematic police stations, according to the report.

Colonel Katlego Mogale said there had been acting commanders at the stations following a series of retirements.
