Two Limpopo men have been convicted of rhino poaching by the Modimolle Magistrate's Court, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Wednesday.

Spokeswoman Bulelwa Makeke said Phillip Mpholo Mpete and Mervin Mphanga were also charged with illegal possession of a rifle and ammunition.

They were found guilty on both charges on Tuesday.

They were arrested in August 2011 after climbing over a fence of the Matswani farm.

"Both men are remanded in custody and they will appear again in court for sentencing on November 8," said Makeke.
