Coach Heyneke Meyer is likely to name an unchanged team to face the All Blacks at Eden Park, where the Springboks are aiming to end a 76-year winless drought, on Saturday.

That means lock Flip van der Merwe will continue alongside Eben Etzebeth in the second row with lineout kingpin Juandré Kruger again taking his place on the bench in the Rugby Championship encounter.

The Boks trained with massive intensity at the Ponsonby Rugby Club yesterday, although Tendai Mtawarira and Bjorn Basson missed practice due to flu.

Basson is unlikely to feature in the match, but Mtawarira will be fit to start on Saturday.

There were lots of interested spectators, including former All Black great Bryan Williams, as the Boks went through their paces, focusing intently on their defensive structure.

Winning matches without the ball is a key tenet of Test rugby these days and the Boks, despite what ill-informed critics have claimed, believe that kicking for field position and putting pressure on opponents through their defence is the secret to domination.

Creating pressure leads to penalties, while that pressure also opens opportunities to score tries later in the game.

On Saturday, the Boks scored three tries between the 60th and 68th minutes on their way to a 38-12 win over the Wallabies in Brisbane. Intense pressure finally led to Australia's resistance breaking.

Prior to that the Boks scored seven second-half tries against Argentina at Soccer City when winning 73-13. It also came from relentless pressure.

"We were happy with the execution of the chances we created in the second half against Australia," assistant coach Ricardo Loubscher said. "But, the credit has to go to the forwards who have laid a good platform.

"Obviously we always aim to score tries but every match varies. There are different conditions, different defences and different referees, but our aim and tactics remain the same."

Rain is expected to play a part on Saturday, but flyhalf Morné Steyn is comfortable if the weather is wet.

"We're prepared to play in any conditions and even if there is rain, we don't have to change too much in our game plan," Steyn said.

"We might just have more of a kicking battle if it rains a lot, and then it will be up to the halfbacks and the fullback to dictate where we want to play."

Probable Bok team: Zane Kirchner, Willie le Roux, JJ Engelbrecht, Jean de Villiers (captain), Bryan Habana, Morné Steyn, Ruan Pienaar, Duane Vermeulen, Willem Alberts, Francois Louw, Flip van der Merwe, Eben Etzebeth, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira. Replacements: Adriaan Strauss, Gurthrö Steenkamp, Coenie Oosthuizen, Juandré Kruger, Siya Kolisi, Jano Vermaak, Pat Lambie, Jan Serfontein.
