Superstar rappers are known for their extravagant gestures, but Kanye West takes the prize.

Bang Showbiz reports that West went down on one knee and popped the question to Kardashian with a 50-piece orchestra playing Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful.

After West presented her with a 15-carat diamond ring, the band then reportedly serenaded Kardashian with Knock You Down, Yeezy's (West's nickname) hit collaboration with Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo.

Grammy-winning West, 36, chose the AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, for Monday's engagement party.

The party coincided with Kardashian's 33rd birthday.

The star of reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians posted a photograph on the Instagram photo-sharing website of her hand with a large ring on her finger as the words "Pleeease Marry Meee!!!" flashed on the ballpark's video board in the background.

"Yes!!!" she said in a message on the website.

People magazine said a representative for the reality star confirmed the couple was engaged.

West and Kardashian started dating in April last year and have a daughter, North West, who was born in June.

It will be the third marriage for Kardashian. She wed her second husband, NBA basketball player Kris Humphries, in an elaborate ceremony filmed for the reality TV show, but the union lasted only 72 days.

Her first marriage to music producer Damon Thomas also ended in divorce.
