DJ Black Coffee officially started working on his next album only on Tuesday, but he's promised a star-studded list of collaborators - one big possibility being Macy Gray.

The three-times SA Music Awards winner, who was also named this week as a judge of the new-look Miss SA pageant, said: "I want to release the new album by the end of next year. So far it's the biggest thing I'm working on because I really want to cross the line and try to find the world's biggest musicians - outside my country - to feature."

When pressed for details, he revealed: "I'm looking at a lot of people; my management in New York has been talking to Macy Gray and there's a lot of progress there. She's one of the people I want to have on this album."

Black Coffee was far more coy about the earning potential of a top-notch DJ like himself during the festive season, when there are corporate year-end gigs galore and no shortage of festivals to play.

All he would say was that there was "a lot of money" to be made at this time of year. He gave as an example DJ Shimza, who is under Black Coffee's Soulistic Music label, who played 17 gigs last weekend alone.
