Motorists were left frustrated on Kgosi Mampuru Street in Pretoria on Wednesday as road closures made them late for work.

Hundreds of people lined the street to watch the procession bearing former president Nelson Mandela’s body from One Military Hospital to the Union Buildings, where he will lie in state for the next three days.

They took photos and cheered as the procession moved along.

Police and military helicopters hovered overhead.

Mandela died on Thursday at his Houghton, Johannesburg, home at the age of 95. He will be buried in Qunu in the Eastern Cape on Sunday
