The Gauteng public accounts committee has instructed the provincial local government and housing minister Ntombi Mekgwe to discipline senior managers who failed to sign performance agreements.

The committee yesterday took issue with 28 managers for not submitting performance agreements, including nine who failed to declare business interests outside the provincial government.

Scopa received only one reason for not signing performance agreements - "owing to precautionary suspension". No reasons were given why nine senior managers failed to declare their external business interests.

The committee was also not told what these business interests were.
