Two goals in the last five minutes from Knowledge Musona delivered a dramatic last-gasp win for log leaders Kaizer Chiefs as they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-0 last night.

It means they now have a six-point lead over their closest challengers, Mamelodi Sundowns, with eight games left for both sides in the championship chase.

But Chiefs were on the brink of dropping vital points before Musona delivered two stunning finishes. His first was at the end of a storming and quick run, mixed with style as he juggled the ball past defenders, and finished with aplomb, in the 85th minute.

A strong header in the 90th minute made sure of the points.

Chiefs had the ball in the net in the 63rd minute, a spectacularbicycle kick from Kingston Nkhatha, but Mashamaite had handled the ball in the build-up.

Ajax had a golden chance with 14 minutes to go as Reyaad Pieterse spilled the ball that Eleazor Rodgers could have tucked away.

  • Lucky Nguzana struck at the death to give AmaZulu 1-0 win over relegation-threatened and upstarts Polokwane City at Princess Magogo Stadium, KwaMashu, Durban, in another PSL match last night.

City remained second from bottom on 19 points from 23 matches, while Usuthu jumped from ninth to sixth spot with 34 from 24 outings.

  • Mazola Molefe reports from Lucas Moripe Stadium, Atteridgeville, Pretoria, that round two of teacher versus student ended in an anticlimax last night when Supersport United were held to a 1-1 draw by Platinum Stars.

Thuso Phala cancelled out Siphelele Mthembu's first-half goal just after the hour- mark.

Mthembu benefited from a Thabo September error to give Stars the lead. It took a solo effort from Phala to level matters and earn Matsatsantsa a point.

  • Sbu Mjikeliso reports from Harry Gwala Stadium, Pietermaritzburg, that Bloemfontein Celtic clawed their way back from a goal down to steal a 1-1 draw from Maritzburg United.

United's defence let in an easy Gabadinho Mhango equaliser, after going ahead through Thokozani Sekotlong after the restart.

  • University of Pretoria held varsity rivals Bidvest Wits to a goalless draw at Tuks Stadium in Tshwane.

Wits dominated the first stanza as Jabulani Shongwe's deflected effort shaved the effort in the 12th minute before Sibusiso Vilakazi squandered a golden chance 13 minutes later.

The draw leaves Wits in third spot on the log, 11 points off leaders Kaizer Chiefs, while AmaTuks move up one place to 10th.
