Kaizer Chiefs have a tough return leg in their second-round CAF Champions League clash against AS Vita after the Congolese side thrashed them 3-0 in Kinshasa yesterday.

Ndombe Mubele scored a hat-trick to give the home team a comfortable victory and made them firm favourites to qualify for the group stages of Africa's premium club competition.

Chiefs will have to score three goals or more - without Vita replying - to have any chance of a dramatic passage to the next phase of the Champions League when the two meet for the second leg at FNB Stadium this weekend. Amakhosi arrive back in South Africa today with a Nedbank Cup last 16 tie against fourth-tier club FC Buffalo on Wednesday before facing Vita again on March 29.

If Chiefs are booted out of the Champions League, they will play in the Caf Confederations Cup.
