Misbehaviour has earned one of the Waterkloof Four, Christoff Becker, a transfer to Kokstad maximum security prison in KwaZulu-Natal.

His transfer follows the discovery of a cellphone in his cell in Pretoria. It resulted in a disciplinary process which saw Becker sent to Kokstad.

"This is part of internal measures to ensure discipline," Correctional services department spokesman Manelisi Wolela said.

Becker, Frikkie du Preez, Gert van Schalkwyk and Reinach Tiedt were released on parole in February after serving five-and-half years of their 12-year jail term for killing a homeless man in 2001.

Becker and Du Preez were rearrested days later after footage of them boozing and using a cellphone in prison was posted on YouTube.

The Parole Board decided the duo would only be due for further parole consideration after spending another year in jail.

Kokstad Prison is the first of its type in South Africa .
