South Africa's favourite auntie, Tannie Evita, is coming back soon, sweeties.

Satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys is penning a new show called Nkandlakosweti, in which Evita is the ANC's cook.

"Her aim is to put everyone on a diet so all the members of cabinet can fit in an economy class seat on SAA."

Uys said the show would see Tannie Evita summoned before a parliamentary commission of inquiry because "R200-billion has been spent on curtains for the tuck shop and Evita is responsible".

The show is due to open in October or November.

Musician and playwright David Kramer will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Stellenbosch this week.

Kramer, who collaborated with Taliep Petersen to create the musical District Six, will receive an honorary doctorate of philosophy on Friday.

Also receiving honorary degrees on Friday are businessman and physician Dr Edwin Hertzog, academic and theologian Professor Wolfgang Huber and former Stellenbosch University rector and vice-chancellor Professor Andreas van Wyk.
