MTV honour for King Bey

Beyonce, currently on a US tour with rapper husband Jay Z, will get a special award and perform at the MTV Video Music Awards this month.

She has received eight award nominations, but will also be handed the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the show, which will be aired live from California on August 24.

Beyonce, 32, has been nominated for best video and best collaboration - with Jay Z for her hit Drunk In Love.

Singer Usher and Australian rockers 5 Seconds of Summer will also perform.
