A Florida murder suspect allegedly asked his mobile phone's digital assistant for advice on where to bury his roommate's body.

Pedro Bravo is accused of killing Christian Aguilar in September 2012 before accessing the voice service Siri on his phone to say: "I need to hide my roommate."

The device allegedly responded with the question: "What kind of place are you looking for? Swamps. Reservoirs. Metal foundries. Dumps."

A court heard that the two men had gone to school together in Miami before getting an apartment in Gainesville, but fell out after Bravo's former girlfriend began dating Aguilar.

Bravo initially admitted only that the two had argued before conceding that the confrontation had become physical. He claimed he left his former friend alive outside a branch of the YMCA.

The body was found when two hunters discovered it in a shallow grave . An autopsy found he had been poisoned and strangled.

Detectives who accessed Bravo's phone found that as well as consulting Siri he had used the flashlight for 48 minutes on the day of Aguilar's disappearance.

He denies murder and the trial continues.
