Kaizer Chiefs will not concern themselves with Supersport United's poor start to the season and coach Cavin Johnson's impending exit when the two teams clash in an Absa Premiership match at FNB Stadium tomorrow, says Amakhosi captain Itumeleng Khune.

United lost 2-1 at home to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday, adding to a somewhat torrid start to the season.

In their previous game - away to Free State Stars - the Pretoria side at one stage led 2-0 only to end up 3-2 losers. They have one victory this season - a 1-0 win at home to Chippa United - and four defeats in league and cup action.

Johnson, whose team finished fifth last season, is set to become the first PSL coach to get the sack this season.

Khune said Chiefs would not worry about Supersport's woes as they had set their sights on achieving their eighth straight league and cup win tomorrow following Wednesday night's 2-0 win against Platinum Stars.

"We don't want to drop points at home - that's what we're focusing on. What's going on at Supersport, that's their problem," the keeper said yesterday.

Chiefs suffered a setback after striker Katlego Mphela broke a bone in his right foot.

  • After scoring six goals in their past two games, Orlando Pirates hope they will continue to find the back of the net when they take on Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium tomorrow.

Pirates tasted their first league win in four games after walloping Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 on the road on Wednesday night.

Before that, Bucs eliminated Wits from the MTN8 Challenge, beating them 5-1 on aggregate to set up an eagerly awaited final against perennial rivals Chiefs.

For now, Bucs would want to pocket their first maximum points against City away.

In the corresponding fixture last season, the Limpopo outfit surprised Pirates with a solitary goal by Sipho Jembula, which ended the Soweto giants' title hopes.

Pirates won the first-round game in Orlando by the same margin after defender Rooi Mahamutsa scored with a brilliantly taken long-range shot.

"They beat us last season in Polokwane; so we cannot afford to underestimate them. The good thing for us is that things are beginning to shape up well, we are scoring goals," said communications manager Mickey Modisane.

"That was a big concern for all of us. We told our players that we expect them to be consistent in scoring goals. We are happy with our first league win," he said.
