Murdered Swedish bride Anni Dewani's family has braced itself for the two months of harrowing evidence that will be presented in the their erstwhile son-in-law Shrien Dewani's trial which starts today.

Anni's father, Vinod Hindocha, and her uncle Ashok, addressed journalists in Cape Town yesterday . Reading a prepared speech, Hindocha reiterated the family's call for Dewani to tell his side of the story.

"We have missed Anni a lot, now that I am here all I can ask for is the full story and justice," said Hindocha.

"Now it is up to the South African justice system to conduct the trial and [uncover the truth]."

Hindocha said his family would make Cape Town their home during the two months of the trial. He urged the media not to contact his family during the trial. He also had a message for Dewani.

"Tell us what happened so we can move on with our lives. We are not getting Anni back but we need the truth," he said.
