The Boxing SA board has quietly suspended chief financial officer Kgosimang Mosupa in the latest controversy to hit the troubled sports body.

A reliable source told The Times that Mosupa was suspended on Tuesday. Reasons for his suspension are still unclear.

Mosupa himself declined to shed light on his suspension when contacted for comment yesterday, and referred all inquiries to BSA.

''Rather talk to my employer about this issue," he said yesterday.

BSA chairman Ntambi Ravele confirmed that Mosupa was suspended this week, but was also reluctant to go into much detail.

''It is a precautionary suspension," she said. ''I do not want to go into details about it. But I can simply say that we picked up some challenges that affect the smooth running of the office."

Boxers have already felt the fallout from Mosupa's suspension as those who fought in Eastern Cape in the past weekend are yet to be paid.
