If the contracted Springboks are indeed our best rugby players, their absence should have lowered the standard of the Currie Cup.

On the contrary, the Lions vs Western Province final promises to be a real cracker. Hopefully several players will catch the eye of Heyneke Meyer and lay the foundation of a winning formula for next year's World Cup.

The three leading try scorers in this year's Currie Cup Jaco Kriel, Cheslin Kolbe and Juan de Jongh - as well as Seabelo Senatla will be in action in the final and deserve to be in next month's Bok touring squad.

Poor selection and tactics cost both the Sharks and the Bulls dearly.

The Boks have the best bench in world rugby.

Only poor selections and tactics stand between the Boks and the World Cup.
