Mario makes super clanger

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli apologised yesterday for his social media post, which appeared to contain racist references.

Balotelli, who made the post on his Instagram page on Monday, will be investigated by the English Football Association.

He posted and then deleted an image depicting the video game character Super Mario alongside the words "jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew".

"I apologise if I've offended anyone," Balotelli said on Twitter.
