A Pretoria toddler is fighting for his life at George Mukhari hospital in Ga-rankuwa after he was allegedly shot by his father, who also killed his mother and her current boyfriend on Tuesday evening.

The father, a police constable based at garsfontein police station, also fatally shot himself on the head.

Police said the 2-year- old boy was clinging on his mother, Fenkie Tlenyane, 31, when the bullet struck him on the right cheek.

According to police spokesman Captain Donia Mothutsane, Constable Ali Nkuna and his ex- girfriend, Tlenyane, were talking at the gate of her home in Temba at around 8pm when she suddenly ran inside the house screaming for help.

She said Tlenyane locked herself in the bedroom but Nkuna jumped in through a window and shot her three times.

“The family later saw Onkgopotse Motshwanedi(Tlenyane’’s 29-year-old boyfriend) lying dead at the gate,” she said.

The families, still reeling from shock, were too distraught to talk to about the attack.
