Complaints lodged with Public Protector Thuli Madonsela will only be attended to in January as the office will be closed for the holidays.

"Only walk-in and telephone services will be interrupted during the break," spokesman Oupa Segalwe said in a statement on Monday.

"While the public may continue to use the public protector website, fax, or e-mail to lodge complaints during this period, such complaints will only be attended to when the offices re-open on 05 January 2015."

The office would be closed from December 23 to January 5 for the festive season.

"The public protector and staff take this opportunity to thank the people and government of South Africa for supporting the office's work in 2014," he said.

"The public protector and staff further wish the people of South Africa showers of blessings, joy and abundance over the festive season and in the New Year."
