Metrorail train services on the Naledi-Johannesburg and Vereeniging-Johannesburg routes were delayed on Thursday morning due to an overhead power failure, the operator said.

The delays were more than an hour due to the failure between Midway, Nancefield, Kliptown, and Orlando, Gauteng spokeswoman Lillian Mofokeng said in a statement,

"The overhead power is affecting operating panels making it impossible for trains to be operated."

Metrorail appealed to all affected commuters and employers to be patient while technicians fixed the problem.
