Johannesburg's new city manager, Trevor Fowler, has said we need to get used to living with potholes as Johannesburg does not have the money to fix them.

Fowler came in as finance manager some four years ago, and said that he would sort out the billing in six months. The billing system is still not working properly and, true to ANC tradition, Fowler has been promoted for his incompetence.

The new chief financial officer Reginald Boqo says the city's financial position is sound. A week later, the auditor-general uncovers huge debt.

Parks Tau brags about clean audits but I think Johannesburg has not had one for years. It's time the ANC employed competent professionals and not cadres.
