Talk show queen Noeleen Maholwana Sangqu has confirmed that 3Talk will come off the air in April.

The show has been on SABC3 for over a decade but Maholwana Sangqu said yesterday that it was time for her to "step aside".

"When we started the show I never imagined that we would have such an enduring relationship with our viewers.

"I have had the most fabulous 12 years on 3Talk. It's been an amazing adventure that has brought so much fun and meaning to my life, but after a lot of thought I think it's time for me to bid farewell."

Not that everyone was sad to hear the news.

On Twitter many believed that the show had passed its sell-by date, but others were sad to see the television veteran go.

  • @skhuw said: "It's about time";
  • @vanessaperuma tweeted: "#3Talk as a platform lost its value on many levels. Same old, same old. A lesson to be learnt - formatting of show needs a shift";
  • @Hlengz said: "3Talk should hire me as their content producer. We can't allow the show to die".

The SABC thanked Maholwana Sanqgu for her "commitment and professionalism" and for "empowering" viewers.

The show, which airs daily on SABC3 at 4pm, ends on April 20.
