Comic Trevor Gumbi's own reality TV show The Gumbis is not a reality yet.

Gumbi has starred in a number of shows, from the soapie Rockville and e.tv's once-off Rolling With ... Trevor Gumbi to Vuzu's current spoof The Real Jozi A-Listers (of which Gumbi is also the head writer ).

His dream about having his own show seemed on the verge of coming true, especially after Solly Moeng, director at production company New Vision, recently posted an Instagram picture of his laptop bearing the title page for The Gumbis.

Gumbi himself commented on the post , saying "do best!", as did his wife, Lucille, who stated "work it".

When she spoke to The Times yesterday, she had little to say about which stage of development the show was in: "There's no date on that. We're not shooting [right now]."

New Vision has produced several local reality shows, including Being Mandela, Dineo's Diary, Cream Cartel, Vixens, Running with the Reps, and Bonang Matheba's online reality show B*Dazzled.

Vuzu publicist Thandeka Mqaba said yesterday: "There has not been any confirmation for this show. If and when it is due on our screens, a press release will be sent out to the media with all the details."

In August, Gumbi spoke about his Rolling with Trevor Gumbi special, telling The Star: "I was approached by e.tv with the idea and was more than happy to oblige. I have plans to do a reality TV show with my family. Shooting it was practice for hopefully getting a full-length season in the future.

"Nevertheless, I am happy that we are doing this."
