Despite Fifty Shades of Grey being the most successful 18-rated film in UK history, fans of the movie are in turmoil.

Jamie Dornan, who plays billionaire Christian Grey, is said to have pulled out of the sequels.

It is understood that Dornan's wife, actress Amelia Warner, is unhappy about the movie's explicit sex scenes. Australian magazine NW has reported that Dornan will not return for the Fifty Shades Darker or Fifty Shades Freed sequels.

Fans on social media reacted with a mixture of sadness, anger and despair to the rumour.

The rumour has since been denied by the Twitter account, Fifty Shades Updates.

Mohammad Hossain, 19, a student, was detained on $500000 bail on Monday, the Chicago Tribune reported. Prosecutors in Chicago said he told the police that he and his alleged victim were re-enacting scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey in his dormitory room on Saturday last week.

He allegedly told the woman to take off her clothes, then tied her up, covered her eyes with a knitted hat, removed her underwear, stuffed a tie in her mouth and began striking her with a belt.

She told him to stop, saying he was hurting her, but he continued to strike her, said a prosecutor.
