Mourners continued to gather at musician Nkululeko Habedi's home in Alexandra, Johannesburg, on Monday, after he was stabbed to death.

Habedi, known as Flabba in the music industry, was stabbed to death in the early hours of Monday morning, allegedly by his girlfriend.

Family spokesman Tshepang Habedi said his brother was stabbed once in the heart.

Women with shawls over their shoulders entered his house on 3rd Street. Some women stood with their hands on their cheeks, the men with folded arms and bowed heads.

"It is sad Nkululeko is no more," said one woman who identified herself only as Tiny. She said they were shocked by Habedi's death.

"Look how people have come to pay their respects to him. To us he was not a famous musician, he was our child. He grew up and played with our children."

Childhood friend Mokotedi Mpshane said Flabba was a down-to-earth person and this had helped his music.

"We will sit around and chat. The next thing he would tell you that you just gave him lyrics for his songs," he said laughing.

"That was Flabba for you. He was a kasi [township] boy living a kasi life."

His girlfriend was arrested.
