Stop voting along racial lines

31 March 2015 - 02:01 By Clive, Umtentweni

Justice Malala, in his customary lucid manner ("President or mob boss?", yesterday), outlines the travesty that is President Jacob Zuma and his administration. Our institutions have collapsed because Zuma appoints inept and corrupt cronies at the helm of vital institutions.Malala ends his column by stating that we, as South Africans, should "scream, shout and otherwise protest at what is happening to the police, the Hawks, the NPA, the public protector and other state institutions. They are being stolen from us, the people, and are being put in the president's pocket ."But how do we, as honest hard-working citizens and taxpayers, stand up against this? Do we protest peacefully, which will likely be met with a violent backlash from ANC supporters, as happened with DA protests in the past?Do we find a way to withhold taxes until the theft and corruption ends? Do we stop being entrepreneurs (as I did last year) because of an unfriendly labour environment and our skewed labour act?The only solution is to stop voting purely along racial lines. The ANC we have today is not the ANC of Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela. Would those men have allowed this dire situation to develop? I think not.Zuma and his sycophants have stolen the dream of the Rainbow Nation which we all embraced in 1994. We need the media to deliver this message to all South Africans, relentlessly and without fear. We deserve more than Zuma...
