Telkom leads internet pack

Users think none of South Africa's internet service providers measure up, according to a new survey. Telkom emerged as the best provider, but respondents said not one was performing anywhere close to what they considered to be an ideal level of wireless internet service.MTN was rated the worst of the service providers, with a score of 64%, according to a report released yesterday.Telkom led the pack with 70%, followed by Vodacom and Cell C, with 66% and 65% respectively.The ratings were compiled by questioning 3G and LTE (also known as 4G) users who access the internet with dongles, routers or 3G/LTE-enabled tablet computers.Respondents felt Cell C and Telkom gave better value for money than Vodacom and MTN.Telkom was the only provider that exceeded expectations in terms of overall quality and reliability."Consumers have become reliant on data and, as with other items deemed a necessary part of daily life, data costs become a grudge purchase," said Adré Schreuder. CEO of Consulta Research,"This is why wireless internet service provision is showing low loyalty scores and why customers will move if they can get data at a better price," Schreuder said...
